Outdoor Balloons in Cold Temperatures
With the weather being bitter cold lately, I thought I would talk about how balloons hold up in cold weather! It can be confusing trying to figure out where to best put your balloons, and while indoors is most of the time ideal, having them outside is still an option in the cold weather.
You may be surprised to hear that balloons hold up much better in the cold than in the heat! This is because balloons expand in the heat and shrink in the cold. So, balloons are more likely to pop in very hot weather as they expand.
Latex balloons will lose some air and shrink in the cold, but most of the time you will not even notice a difference. Foil balloons are another story. They lose air much more quickly and sometimes look as if they have completely deflated even in slightly chilly temperatures. Foil balloons most of the time need to be inflated in the temperature they are going to be set up in, so keep this in mind if you are wanting a lot of foil balloons in your arrangement because it may take more time for your decorator to inflate!
For the most part, your balloons will do perfectly fine in the cold, but ALWAYS let your decorator know if they will be setting up outside in the cold!
